Today on the blog we speak to fitness
instructor Alex Kitchen, who has returned to his home town in Newcastle after
working and travelling in Australia for 2 years. We are very excited to have
him back in the North East!
What do you enjoy most about being a model?
I always enjoy how each job is
usually so different and is often something you haven't done too often, so it
pushes you out of your comfort zone!
What is your career highlight to
date?
My career highlight would probably be
doing a TV commercial for Ministry of Sound.
When I was a kid I wanted to be…
When I was a kid I wanted to be a
professional footballer. I was part of Newcastle Academy from u9s-u21s and then
I played at pro level in Scotland for 2 years.
In five year’s time I hope to be…
Five years from now I hope to be
happy, that's the main thing. I would like to be successful in my career
choices, own a property and have the funds to travel often!
My biggest celebrity crush is…
My biggest celebrity crush is
Shakira.
If I could travel to anywhere in the World it would be:
I would travel to Iguaźa Falls in Argentina.
I’ve always wanted to go to South America, the weather is better and there's
some amazing sights!
My dream brand to work for would be:
I would love to work for Nike, simply
because I love their gym clothes and trainers. I love sports and fitness;
that's what they usually represent so it would fit well.
Who is your inspiration for being in this industry?
The models I see on TV commercials
inspire me the most. It just gives me a sense that there are opportunities
world wide to be taken because every company that needs a TV advertisement
usually requires models. I also like the work ASAP Rocky has been doing, he's
just an all around cool man.

The star of today’s
model story is Sarah Hannon, who has returned to the modelling world and
re-joined our books at Tyne Tees Models after taking a break from the industry.
Sarah has been lucky enough to work for some amazing brands in her career and
travel to cities all over the world. We are so happy to have her back with us
at TTM and can’t wait to see what opportunities arise for her in the North
East.
What do you enjoy most about being a model?
I most enjoy
working with many different people everyday so no day is ever really the same.
I love the travelling and all the opportunities I’ve been given to see and live
in so many different cities and countries around the world.
What is your career highlight to date?
When I first moved
to London, when I was 19 and I was booked for Timotei. I went on to do three TV
commercials which took me to the American Rockies and New Zealand, which was an
incredible experience! I was also booked for French Connection which we shot in
North Carolina. That was an amazing shoot too. I’ve been very lucky in my
profession.
When I was a kid I wanted to be…
I have no idea what
I wanted to be when I was a kid! But I began modelling when I was 12 so my
career was pretty much planned out from there on in I guess.
In five year’s time I hope to be…
In five year’s time
I hope to still be modelling! I took a long break and at the age of 43 I'm only just getting
started again. I have also always wanted to develop property. I have two flats
at the moment that I rent out and have worked a little on but I’d love to do a
bigger project. But of course, I ultimately just want to be healthy and happy.
My biggest celebrity crush is…
My biggest
celebrity crush is Jake Gylenhall. He’s a fantastic actor and also pretty easy
on the eye!
If I could travel to anywhere in the World
it would be:
Right now it would
be either Ireland or South Africa. I grew up in Ireland and miss it so much, I
had a wonderful childhood. I’ve lived in Cape Town and absolutely adore it.
My dream brand to work for would be:
I would love to do
another hair commercial for any of the major brands, such as L’Oreal, Pantene
or Tresemme.
Who is your inspiration for being in this
industry?
My inspiration is
my mom. When I first began modelling we had very little. Even though she was working
three jobs and studying for her degree at university she spent every spare
minute doing whatever she could for us to ensure we had a better life. I
wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her.

Today on the blog, we speak to
business student Jamie Yates. Jamie has been modelling for a number of years
and came onto our books in 2015. He has since worked with many local brands
such as Psyche, Aphrodite, Nigel Cabourn and Le Breve. Jamie tells us about his
career highlights, inspirations and what he enjoys most about being a
model. The gloves are off…
What do you enjoy most about
being a model?
I'd say the travelling and
getting to see how everything gets put together behind the scenes to make the
final product - and feeling privileged enough to actually be a part of all
that.
What is your career highlight to
date?
It's a hard one to say because
I've got to keep some things quiet until they come out next year which might
take that place, but I shot in Ingle's Boxing Gym for Scotts Menswear's sports
range for autumn/winter this year which I loved. My family is from a boxing
background as well, so to shoot somewhere like that was amazing for me.
When I was a kid I wanted to be...
World champion boxer haha. Still
kind of do sometimes, we'll see what happens down the road.
In five years time I hope to be…
Healthy, wealthy and wise.
My biggest celebrity crush is…
Eva Mendes, what a woman.
If I could travel to anywhere in
the world it would be:
New York City, walking around
there and taking it all in would be a great experience.
My dream brand to work for would
be:
Stone Island.
Who is your inspiration for being
in this industry?
My Parents, they both support me
fully in accepting that I do this full time which would be a bit scary to hear
your kid say given that the industry can be so demanding. I love them to bits
and they inspire me in more ways than I can count.
