So when 4 of our classic models were asked to take part in a photoshoot in the gorgeous city of Tuscany, we weren't surprised when they said yes imminently.
Real couples Richard and Denise and Sue and Chris spent a week shooting over in the Italian countryside.
Our MD, Lesley, accompanied the models and photographers to help make sure the booking went as smooth as possible (so it wasn't just the models who got a holiday from it!)
The week was filled with sunsets, days by the pool and plenty of food.
All models booked needed to gel together quickly so it was great that the models we recommended had previously worked together on other bookings.
Lesley kept us updated in the office through the week with BTS images and we were all excited to see the final products.
We're keeping our fingers crossed for more clients that take models over seas for their bookings, especially with the current whether here in the UK.

A week on from Donald Trump’s Inauguration and people are still talking about the outfit of America’s First Lady’s. Melania Trump sported a blue Ralph Lauren suit for the event — a union which has conjured divided opinions.

However Ralph Lauren defended his decision to the New York Times explaining: “It was important to us to uphold the tradition of creating iconic American style for this moment.”
This presents with a key issue in branding. Brands have to be very careful of who they choose to associate with. It’s essential that the values of the brand’s faces are in line with the brand’s values. One difference in opinion, public appearance or news story can affect customer loyalty and impact sales.
Here are a few examples…
-David Beckham was photographed using an iPhone after taking upon the role of brand ambassador for Motorola landing him in trouble with the company.
-Rihanna appeared in a series of adverts for skincare brand Nivea however the brand decided she was “too sexy” for its family image and ended its association with the singer.
-After being accused of substance abuse Kate Moss was dropped from Chanel’s advertising after years of modelling for the brand. Ethic oriented H&M also terminated their contract with Moss after customer complaints.

For this month's special guest blogger we contacted photographer Michael Smalley to see if he would be interested in sharing some light on working with Tyne Tees Models.
Michael has been working alongside our new faces since the end of 2016 and we always love the work he produces!

I've been working directly with TTM for around two month now after shooting with a couple of their models earlier in the year.
How do you feel your booking process goes when requesting models for shoots?
I couldn't be any more impressed with the whole booking process, Kelly has been amazing dealing with emails often within an hour, and if she is out of office there's always somebody else available to respond to them. There's been situations where models have become unavailable and we've been able to rearrange the shoot on another date and sometimes another model has been available to shoot instead. For me I couldn't be more pleased with the communications I've had with Tyne Tees Models.

To me, confidence is absolutely key. A model that is creative, that can offer something different or try something out of the ordinary that might not work. When a model lacks confidence it can show in the images. Being relaxed and having a good rapport with the photographer before or during the shoot also helps, but this just from my own perspective and the way I work with a model.
One of the main reasons I enjoy shooting with TTM models is that you're guaranteed to produce some great images. I have mostly shot with new faces looking to build their portfolio, and they are always to a high standard regarding confidence and working to little to no direction.

If you cast your minds back to before the festive period, NETime's photographer and Director Chris Owen wrote as one of our special guest bloggers. You can re-read the article here.
So in case you missed it in your busy Christmas period, here are the images from the magazine.

The girls wore clothing supplied by House of Fraser and we're sure you'll agree that they wouldn't look out of place at an office Christmas party!
If you did miss out on getting your hands on the magazine, you can read it online here.

We absolutely love Antony and his attitude to his work so we are wishing all of the luck in the world for his new international adventure.
Going from being on our main board as he is an experienced model in the UK to being a New Face with his German agent. They are promoting him to their clients and getting his book out there as much as they can.
He is constantly working on his portfolio so it's no wonder he was snapped up internationally as his book is looking stronger than ever.
Watch this space for an advert with Antony's face all over it.

How important is social media for models?
In the ever-growing digital age, social media is becoming more and more of a talking point in the modelling industry.
![]() |
Model: Hannah |
However we ask, is social media is essential to the industry?
Well that all depends on what you want to get out of modelling!
Tyne Tees Models
As a modelling agency we do not ask for our models to provide us with their social media profiles or request their number of followers however some clients do choose whether they want to look at a model’s social media accounts before hiring. Whether or not you want to share that part of your life is a choice entirely up to you.
But social media can be used as a tool to increase your profile as a model and attract bigger clients if it is a platform you are comfortable with exploiting.
Having your agency contact information in your bio also maximises your bookings as clients will be able to contact us straight away to let us know they would like to book you for their brand and promotions.

Model: Ashley |
If you do decide to use social media to further your modelling career, it is important that you understand the power it can have on your perception as a person and a model.
Your social media pages should be treated as a portfolio. Whilst a post may seem harmless when you first create it, one inappropriate post can cause major problems if not thought through. This could effectively damage your career.
However this shouldn’t deter you from using social media — there are ways to use it to your advantage.
Public or Private?
At Tyne Tees Models we understand that personality plays a bit part in casting as it does when we are considering models to take onto our books. We love to see the individual attributes that make us all unique and we celebrate the things that make us different - which our clients want to see too!
However there is a fine line between personality and poor professionalism. Perhaps making two accounts would be beneficial meaning you can maintain your personal quirks and document life’s journeys whilst also maintaining a professional platform specifically tailored to what you want to achieve in modelling. In doing so, you can select what parts of your personal content translate through to your modelling portfolio.

This month we spoke to Rebecca Everett, a full time fashion communication student and part time model.
We chatted with her about her aspirations and how the impact that her modelling career has helped her in with her fashion interests.
Name: Rebecca Everett
Born: 1997
Time with Tyne Tees: Started in mid 2016
Brands worked for: LaDiDa, Coast, Intu Eldon Square, NE Times, Ladies Who Rock.
What is your career highlight to date? I think the highlight so far would be featuring in Wonderland online as it's one of my favourite magazines! However I love every single job I work on no matter how big or small, as each photographer has a different creative mind-set that I really appreciate and is a huge influence to me.

What shoot have been on where you felt you and the team have had a tangible effect on the client's business and brand performance? I would say the opening of the Coast store at the Metrocentre was a huge success for the clients brand image as we were not only required to model the clothing but also interact with the public and work as a team to generate as much publicity and hype as possible. It's really important to work together and to also enjoy what we do. The public can tell when we are expressing ourselves and having fun which creates the biggest impact.
What would your dream modelling job be? My dream modelling job would probably be to feature in a magazine such as Dazed & Confused or I-D Magazine. Maybe even to be part of a campaign that promotes an organisation or a charity that influences people in a positive and helpful way!

What do you enjoy most about modelling?: I enjoy meeting the clients and other Tyne Tees Models as well as the extremely talented photographers, makeup artists and stylists who I work with. I get so many tips and great advice!

Ever since male modelling agent Elizabeth Rose claimed to the BBC that male models make up to 75% less than their female colleagues, we decided to voice our opinion as the subject matter is quite interesting to us.
The Figures
When comparing the world’s best paid female model Gisele Bündchen, who earned $44 million in 2015, with the highest paid male Sean O’Pry who cashed in $1.5 million, it seems as if we are seeing one of the few examples where the roles have been reversed.
Elizabeth Rose told the BBC, "I think it's the only industry where men get paid less than women. It's unfair for men and I wouldn't say it's female empowerment at all."

Model: Fergus |
As a modelling agency that values equality and professionalism, we believe that a model's pay should be a reflection of their work as opposed to their gender.
We make it our business to ensure that models are paid fairly. We asked our MD, Lesley, for her opinion on this and what it has been like over the past 22 years as a model agent for her.
"In my whole time of running Tyne Tees Models we have never had a female model receive more money than her male colleague. All model fees are paid on the time and usage of the booking, not because of their gender.
I can happily say that there has never been a pay gap for any of our models."

Born: 1995
Start Year: 2015
Brands worked for: Joe Browns, Barbour, Intu, Newcastle United Foundation, The Wedding Fair.
Why we love Melissa: She is a little gem that we found who started working with our clients after not being represented by us for very long. Clients started expressing an interest in her and she has made herself available for all of her bookings meaning they come back to work with her time and time again.
Model Highlight: Recently our client Joe Browns have booked her for every shoot that they have worked on over the past few months. There are even talks about shoots happening abroad. Having a client come back to book her over and over shows that the attitude to work she has is extremely positive and professional.

In honour of the late George Michael we wanted to revisit the influence he has had not only on the music industry but on fashion and the modelling world too! He’s left a legacy of hits in the pop world but it was his later video of ‘Freedom 90s’ that inspired our modern definition of the supermodel and shaped the 90s image.
![]() |
Deeann featured in 'The Crawl' music video |
It was this unique concept along with the powerful direction of David Finches and styling by Camilla Nickerson which made the video that changed how we view models, women and their role in the music industry.
Whilst at the time it wasn’t unusual for models to appear in music videos (take Christie Brinkley's appearance in Billy Joel's "Uptown Girl" for example) they usually played the love interest of the singer, they weren’t the focal point themselves. In showing the women as the performers as opposed to the performer’s girlfriend, the video challenged the nature of gender and power.
Freedom 90s demonstrates that a models job is not just to take pretty pictures. They have to perform, take on the role desired by the client and can be a tool for change!

Deeann featured in 'The Crawl' music video |
To celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the music video, Vogue and Instagram teamed up with the next generation of supermodels to produce a new take on the 90’s classic. The likes of Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Irina Shayk and Taylor Hill along with other big names, took to the streets of New York sporting the SS17 runway trends and lip syncing to the pop anthem.
But which version do you prefer?
Can’t choose? The Tyne Tees team agree - more models all round!
